SHORT FILM

An excavation of a Black collective memory with South Dallas starring as supporting character.

Opportunity

Preserve memory before it disappears.
Center South Dallas as both subject and witness.

Approach

Archive as living narrative.

I treated memory as material—building a structure that moves between past and present, allowing personal histories to accumulate into a collective voice.

Execution

  • Directed and edited short-form nonfiction film

  • Conducted and shaped interview-driven storytelling during 2020 lockdown

  • Integrated archival footage, photography, and home video into a layered visual language

  • Compiled private archives of Black life in South Dallas for public presentation

Impact

Exhibited at NorthPark Arts and The Feminist Institute.
Created a public-facing archive rooted in Black collective memory and place.
